Doc is NKC and ABRA registered. He is out of Sire, Batman Capdevila's Nightmare and Dam, J C's Brandy Addiction. The more well-known dogs in his background are his Grandfather, Leatherneck's Lancealot and Great Grandfather, Champion Leatherneck's Tyson.
Doc has a great temperment and is highly intelligent. He has plenty of get up and go! I feel like he is a hundred percenter. My definition of a hundred percenter is a dog that you can put absolute confidence and trust in. Some dogs fall a little shy of this, some don't even come close. Doc has reached his maturity now, but I have no doubts about him.
Doc is a big boy, yet he is balanced out and moves well. He has a handsome carriage and very defined rear end. If you are a butt man, this is your dog!!! The back end is very important and is what drives the dog. I think this is one of Doc's best features, this along with his awesome kickers (what I call back legs). To see a good hind shot of him, go to Doc's Pics and click on the picture of Doc in the ring at the 2005 Heart of Dixie show!
Doc is like the rest of us in that he likes to eat. He's is usually a little on the plump side and needs to be trimmed/slimmed up a bit. We have been working with him on diet and exercise, but it does take time to see results. Doc has been eating Solid Gold's Holistic Blend dog food which is lower in calories and protein. We are also trying to take him on regular runs up and down the mountainside on which we live. Hopefully we can continue improving and sculpting his physique.
Doc has been in 5 dog shows thus far. We entered him in the 2005 Heart of Dixie in Springville, Alabama, his first dog show ever!! He captured 2nd place on Saturday, April 16th and 3rd place on Sunday, April 17th in the Veteran Puppy Class.
We also entered him in the 2005 National Show in Fort Payne, Alabama. There was a lot of stiff competition in the Junior Adult Class and unfortunately he just wasn't what the judges were looking for in that particular show.
We were delighted when he brought home a blue in conformation in the Junior Adult Class at the 2006 Heart of Dixie Show at Horse Pens 40, as well as winning Best Adult Male on Saturday, April 22nd.
Although he didn't place at this year's Heart of Dixie Show, he did win 2nd place on Saturday, and 3rd place on Sunday at the 2007 NKC National Show in Ft. Payne. We were absolutely thrilled as this was his first time winning anything at the National Show and points were doubled. Doc didn't place at this year's Heart of Dixie, however he did bring home a 1st & 2nd Place at the 2008 Alabama Classic Show. We are very proud of him and plan to continue working with him to try and improve him for future conformation events. Not bad for a dog that didn't start his show career until he was already in the Veteran Puppy Class.
